In the U.S., Black Friday has been a day of controversy in recent years. In 2014, a Walmart employee in Ohio was trampled to death by a mob of shoppers in the store’s parking lot. Last year, a Walmart employee in California was stabbed by a shopper during a Black Friday sale.
Walmart is one of the most vocal proponents of Black Friday, and has been trying to get other companies to open earlier than ever on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Washington Post.
